A lot of water has flowed under the bridge since Audi launched its first electric SUV, simply called e-tron. That was in 2019. The decision behind the shape was a natural one: the shape that captured customers’ minds had the best chance of success in a booming market.
At the facelift, the Audi e-tron was transformed into the Audi Q8 e-tron – its dimensions qualified it and, more importantly, a clear delimitation was needed, because the Audi electric range was coming with the Q4 e-tron, followed by the Q6 e-tron, which will accompany us in EUROCHARGE by Schaeffler.
The Special
The Q6 e-tron’s position as a newcomer in the Audi range gives it an advantage from a technology perspective.
And we start with the basics: the Q6 is the first electric Audi developed on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, an 800-volt architecture made exclusively for electric cars. The same platform has reached both the Porsche Macan and the slightly-fresher A6 e-tron.
Among the main benefits of the PPE platform is the high charging power – the peak reaches 270 kW, where the infrastructure allows it. At AC sources, the Q6 e-tron charges at a maximum power of 11 kW. It should be noted that during the life cycle, so most likely with the occasion of a facelift, Audi intends to increase this charging power at AC sources to 22 kW.

Currently, the Audi Q6 e-tron has only one battery version available – 95 kWh net (100 kWh gross). The battery consists of 12 modules of 15 prismatic cells connected in series – 180 in total.
In fact, it should be mentioned that at this time, the Q6 range has three versions: Audi Q6 e-tron performance, Q6 e-tron quattro and the top-of-the-line SQ6 e-tron.
The Audi Q6 e-tron performance is the base version. We’ve already talked about the battery, so next is the engine: a single electric motor capable of delivering a maximum of 292 hp. 0-100 km/h takes 6.6 seconds, and the maximum range announced according to WLTP is 641 kilometers.
The Audi Q6 e-tron quattro can now be considered the middle version. From the name you can simply conclude that we are talking about two electric motors. These are ready to develop a total of 388 horsepower (in Launch Control mode). 0-100 km/h takes 5.9 seconds, and the maximum speed reaches 210 km/h. The communicated range for this variant is 625 kilometers.
For the Audi SQ6 e-tron, the coordinates are as follows: also two electric motors, but with 517 horsepower. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is ticked in 4.3 seconds, towards a maximum speed limited to 230 km/h. Of course, the range also changes, the maximum communicated being 596 kilometers.

Audi is already working on a Q6 e-tron version with a smaller battery, of 83 kWh (gross capacity). This will be coupled with a single electric motor, located on the rear axle.
For those who are particularly interested, the electric motors are produced in Hungary, at the Györ plant.
Family-friendly
In addition to the electric core, the PPE platform can be manipulated to obtain an environment conducive to families – in terms of interior and storage space.
The Audi Q6 e-tron measures 4,771 mm in length, 2,139 mm in width (this includes the side mirrors) and 1,648 mm in height, while the wheelbase is 2,899 mm. Audi says that these dimensions allow the accommodation of 5 passengers plus their luggage.

The trunk volume is 526 l, but can be extended up to 1,529 liters by folding down the rear seat. In addition to this, there is also a 64-liter frunk. If a trailer is needed, the Q6 e-tron can tow up to 2,400 kilograms. All interior storage spaces total a volume of 25 liters.
Technology all Around
OLED taillights, Matrix LED headlights and daytime running lights, plus the possibility to personalize the light signature for the taillights and daytime running lights in up to 8 ways, depending on the equipment level.
This is how the most important points when it comes to the exterior of the new Audi Q6 e-tron could be summarized. As usual, regarding the design itself, we let the images tell the story and everyone decides what they like and what they don’t.
When it comes to the interior, there is, according to trends, a crowding of screens. The centerpiece is called the Audi MMI Panoramic Display and is, in fact, made up of two screens – the one that serves the instrument panel, called the Audi Virtual Cockpit (11.9 inches) and the central one, which ensures interaction with the multimedia system, called the Audi MMI Touch Display (14.5 inches).

These two screens can be supplemented by a third, integrated into the dashboard to the right of the passenger, called the MMI Front Passenger Display (10.9 inches).
Optionally, the Audi Q6 e-tron can also receive a head-up display system, called the Audi AR HuD, now in its second generation.
Returning to the multimedia system, it is developed on the Android Automotive architecture. It can receive updates in the OTA (over the air) system, is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but can also be used as such, without connecting a mobile phone, in the sense that the user has access to applications directly from the multimedia system, through the central screen.
