A lot of time has passed since Audi launched its first electric SUV, simply called e-tron. That was back in 2019. The decision behind its body shape was a natural one: the one that captured customers’ minds had the best chance of success in a booming market.
When the facelift came, the Audi e-tron was transformed into the Audi Q8 e-tron – its dimensions qualified it for the moniker change, and more importantly, a clear delimitation was needed, since Audi’s electric range was coming up nicely with the likes of Q4 e-tron and Q6 e-tron. The latter will accompany us in EUROCHARGE by Schaeffler.
The Special One
The Q6 e-tron’s position as a newcomer in the Audi range gives it an advantage from a technological perspective.
Let’s start with the basics: the Q6 is the first electric Audi developed on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, an 800-volt architecture made exclusively for electric cars. The same platform sits under both the Porsche Macan and the slightly-fresher A6 e-tron.
Among the main benefits of the PPE platform is the high charging power – the peak reaches 270 kW, where the infrastructure allows it. At AC sources, the Q6 e-tron charges at a maximum power of 11 kW. It should be noted that during the life cycle, so most likely with the occasion of a facelift, Audi intends to increase this charging power at AC sources to 22 kW.

Currently, the Audi Q6 e-tron has only one battery version available – 95 kWh usable (100 kWh gross). The battery is made of 12 modules of 15 series-connected prismatic cells – 180 in total.
In fact, it should be mentioned that at this time, the Q6 range has three versions: Audi Q6 e-tron performance, Q6 e-tron quattro and the top-of-the-line SQ6 e-tron.
The Audi Q6 e-tron performance is the base version. We’ve already talked about the battery, so next up is the motor: a single electric motor capable of delivering a maximum of 292 horsepower. 0-100 km/h takes 6.6 seconds, and the maximum range specified by the carmaker in the WLTP cycle is 641 kilometers.
The Audi Q6 e-tron quattro can now be considered the middle version. From the name you can simply conclude that we are talking about two electric motors. These are ready to develop a total of 388 horsepower (in Launch Control mode). 0-100 km/h takes 5.9 seconds, and top speed reaches 210 km/h. The estimated range for this variant is 625 kilometers.
For the Audi SQ6 e-tron, the coordinates are as follows: also two electric motors, but with 517 horsepower between them. The sprint from zero to 100 km/h is ticked in 4.3 seconds, towards a top speed limited to 230 km/h. Of course, the range also changes, with the theoretical value being a still-hefty 596 kilometers.

Audi is already working on a Q6 e-tron version with a smaller battery pack – 83 kWh (gross capacity). This will be coupled with a single electric motor, located on the rear axle.
For those who are particularly interested in the topic, the electric motors are produced in Hungary, at the Györ plant.
Family-friendly
In addition to the electric core, the PPE platform can be manipulated to obtain an environment friendly to families – in terms of both interior and storage space.
The Audi Q6 e-tron measures 4,771 mm in length, 2,139 mm in width (this includes the side mirrors) and 1,648 mm in height, while the wheelbase stretches to 2,899 mm. Audi says that these dimensions allow the accommodation of five passengers plus their luggage.

The trunk volume is 526 liters, but can be extended up to 1,529 liters by folding down the rear seat. In addition to this, there is also a 64-liter frunk. If a trailer is needed, the Q6 e-tron can tow up to 2,400 kilograms. All interior storage spaces total a volume of 25 liters.
Technology all Around
OLED taillights, Matrix LED headlights and daytime running lights, plus the possibility to personalize the light signature for the taillights and daytime running lights in up to eight ways, depending on the equipment level.
This is how you could summarize the most important points regarding the new Audi Q6 e-tron’s exterior.
When it comes to the interior, there is, according to trends, a spectacle of screens. The centerpiece is called the Audi MMI Panoramic Display and is, in fact, made up of two screens – the one that serves the instrument panel, called the Audi Virtual Cockpit (11.9 inches) and the central one, which ensures interaction with the multimedia system, called the Audi MMI Touch Display (14.5 inches).

These two screens can be supplemented by a third, integrated into the dashboard to the right of the passenger, called the MMI Front Passenger Display (10.9 inches).
Optionally, the Audi Q6 e-tron can also receive a head-up display system, called the Audi AR HuD, now in its second generation.
Coming back to the multimedia system, it is developed on the Android Automotive architecture. It can receive OTA updates, has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, but can also be used as such, without connecting a mobile phone, in the sense that the user has access to apps directly from the multimedia system, through the central screen.
